FEMALE FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE…THE SYSTEM WORKS!
Filton College’s Female Football Development Centre has grown from strength to strength over the past several years and now has a structure in place to develop players from aged 8 to senior international level and all within one facility.
2007 was Filton College’s most successful season in their history with back to back National Championship wins in the League & Cup was recently hailed as the ‘academy of the year’ by the English Football Association.
At the ‘academy’ female footballers aged between 16-19 are put through their paces as they combine full-time study with a full-time football training schedule. Each student-athlete is given every opportunity and resource to achieve their ambitions both in the classroom and on the playing field.
With a chance to play for the Bristol Academy Women’s Senior team in the national premier league, players are in the perfect environment to develop to their full potential. This opportunity, combined with the top class WISE campus facilities, help our student-athletes train and play in a world class professional environment. The developmental link with the senior women’s team has proved a great success as several players now play for both the Female Football Development Centre Team in the college league and the Bristol Academy Women’s Senior Team at weekends.
The basic ingredients of commitment, work ethic and ambition are paramount for the success of the student-athlete and the academic & athletic standard required by applicants continues to rise as the profile of Filton College’s Female Football Development Centre spreads.
Our multi million pound WISE campus has been host to several international teams in recent seasons with the Australian Schoolgirls National team and the Republic of Ireland Under 17 National Women’s team enjoying the facilities that Filton College has to offer. This exposure raises the profile of the academy and we look forward to enjoying more success and international recognition in the season to come.
