Looking forward to Wednesday's FA WSL match against league leaders Birmingham City Ladies Bristol Academy manager Mark Sampson feels the game will be a test his team need and are looking forward to.
For the first time in the clubs history their Stoke Gifford Stadium will be the venue for ESPN Live camera's as the Vixens fixture against the league leaders is broadcast live on ESPN.
"Every game we prepare for thoroughly and look forward to but this is a match we have been looking forward to for a long time. Birmingham are very well organised side full of top International player and being un beaten at this stage of the season is an indication of the tough task we face. They have a style of play they are confident within and execute very efficiently. We need to focus on our own performance and have the courage to be ourselves and be true to our philosophy. At home this season we have shown we can get great support and play open attacking football, tomorrow will be our toughest test so far and we will need to make sure we play with the right balance to our game."
After losing their unbeaten home record against Lincoln the Academy will be keen to bounce back with a positive result against the league leaders on Wednesday night. Sampson was quick to take the positives from Friday night's match but also keen to stress they can't afford to make the same errors on Wednesday night.
"Losing our unbeaten home record hurt us on Friday but we must learn the lessons, if we do it will help us become a stronger group and put us in an even stronger position to compete. We need to be ready come Wednesday for a massive challenge and make sure our concentration levels are at the absolute maximum in every situation. We have huge belief in our methods and must have the confidence be true to ourselves and be ruthless in our execution."
Bristol will have a few injury concerns for the Birmingham match, after playing in such trying conditions on Friday night it seems to have taken its toll on the playing squad.
"Michelle Green is still out, Jess is a concern after she came off on Friday and Anouk has a slight hamstring strain so we will look at those two closer to the game. But we have a strong squad so Wednesday might be the time for some other players to step up and make a name for themselves."
