A last minute winner from Rachel Williams gave Birmingham City the three points in what was an incredible game at the Stoke Gifford Stadium.
Jemma Rose came close to opening the scoring for the Vixens after 3 minutes after her free kick fired back off the cross bar.
Two minutes later a through ball from Jo Potter found Karen Carney whose shot was well saved by Vixens keeper Siobhan Chamberlain but the rebound bounced to Marie Ballard who put the ball in the back of the net.
Bristol came back at Birmingham and who were the better side in the game were unlucky not to finish their chances with Corinne Yorston coming close on a couple of attempts. Anouk Hoogendijk came close with her header which went just wide, and Ann-Marie Heatherson’s shot went over the bar.
Early in the second half Chamberlain was at full stretch to make a good save to deny Williams.
Jess Fishlock got the equalizer Bristol deserved after 71 minutes after a spell of pressure found Fishlock scrambling the ball from close range.
Eight minutes later Bristol took the lead after substitute Helen Bleazard cross to the back post found Heatherson who headed the ball home.
Three minutes later Chelsea Weston’s shot from outside the box found the back of the net to make the score level.
In the 90th minute Williams broke clear and managed to put the ball past Chamberlain to give Birmingham the winner.
