Arsenal dominated large parts of the game and caused the Vixens a few problems. Rachel Yankey forced Bristol goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain to make the first save of the game after 18 minutes when Gemma Davison got past Jaz Matthews and fed the ball across into Yankey who was denied by a fine save from Chamberlain from 8 yards.

Moments after Chamberlain was called upon again, diving to her left pushing away Yankey’s effort from 20 yards.

The Vixen's suffered an early blow when Alex Windell was forced off with a knee injury with Grace McCatty coming on to replace her.

The first goal of the game came after 29 minutes when Jess Fishlock and Katie Chapman challenged for the ball with Fishlock getting caught in the head by Chapman and the referee allowing play to continue the ball broke to Davison who drove her shot into the far corner.

Ann-Marie Heatherson found her header caught by Emma Byrne from a Melissa Lawley cross, which ended with Arsenal on the attack when Davison’s cross found Jordan Nobbs in space before she fired into the bottom corner.

Chamberlain was called into action early on in the second half, and made another fine save to stop Kim Little from making it 3 after former Arsenal player Angharad James got caught in possession.

The Vixens had been able to create little chances during the game. Substitute Natasha Harding’s cross found Nikki Watts who couldn’t manage to get her header on target on the hour mark.

Bristol nearly managed to get back into the game with 11 minutes to go when Watts took the ball past Emma Byrne and her curling effort towards goal was cleared away by Niamh Fahey.

Arsenal rounded of a 3 – 0 win in the last minute when substitute Jennifer Beattie fired into the bottom corner after Davison beat the Bristol defence and found Davison on the edge of the box.
