Bristol Academy Womens Football Club are today reflecting on winning four out of a possible 12 awards at the FA Womens Award ceremony in London.
Jemma Rose, Bristol’s U19 England international centre back, won Young Player of the Season and Goal of the Season.
The Club’s international goalkeeper, Siobhan Chamberlain won Save of the Season as well as being named in the Women’s Super League All-Star team alongside the Club’s Welsh striker, Jess Fishlock.
To cap an incredible ceremony, Bristol Academy WFC itself was voted FA Women’s Club of the Year. This prestigious award recognised the work which has gone on behind the scenes, from the ground staff, the media team, the stewards, the ambassadors, the volunteers and of course the following of our fans and the brilliant “smurf army”!
Simon Arnold, Chairman of the Vixen’s said
“We would like to thank everyone involved with the Club for all their hard work. We want this Club to be a club run for the best interests of the Game both on and off the field and to be recognized by the FA for our work is tremendous. We are a new club, with a new ground and we have out performed this season as a football team and a football club. I am sure this will give us the impetus to achieve even more next season. I would also like to pay tribute to Jemma and Siobhan who have been brilliant this year – in fact our whole squad have been outstanding.
This award also recognizes the work undertaken by the Club in working with our Sponsors, Tradepoint, UWE, N-Gaged Training & Recruitment, M&O Training and Sportreach and how we have worked with the Gloucestershire FA, Bristol Evening Post, Local BBC Radio and TV and Bristol City FC to raise the profile of female football in the region. We have had a fabulous year and with our friends, helpers and partners we know we can do even more in the future”
