Bristol Academy WFC are nearing the first leg of their UEFA Womens Champions League against FC Energiya Voronezh at Ashton Gate.
This is the first ever UEFA Champions League game to be held in Bristol and Bristol Academy is urging the city to get behind the team.
Bristol City’s captain says it will be a great occasion for Bristol “All the players here at Bristol City want to wish Bristol Academy the very best of luck for their Champions League game. It’s great for the city and I’m sure they’ll do Bristol proud”
Bristol Academy reached the UEFA Women’s Champions League by reaching The Women’s FA Cup Final against Arsenal at the Ricoh Arena. The Vixens lost out 2 – 0 in front a crowd of 13,000 spectators.
The Vixen’s visitors FC Energiya Voronezh hold the most championships to their name in the Russian League. The last time they competed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League was in 2003 when they reached the quarter finals but lost both legs 2 – 1 to Umea IK.
