Welsh age group International Ellie Curson has become the latest graduate from Filton College Female Football Academy to progress through the ranks and be awarded an FA WSL contract with Bristol Academy Womens Football Club.
Curson becomes the second signing of the mid season break after Yeovil keeper Rachel Simkin also joined the Vixens.
After spending her early football years at Welsh Club Mardy Tigers Curson moved over the bridge to become part of Bristol Academy’s Centre of Excellence. Following a successful period in the centre Ellie was rewarded with a place on the Filton College Female Football Academy. After only one season at the Academy Ellie has not only completed three AS Level’s in Sport Studies, Psychology and Biology but played an instrumental part in the college Academy team’s successful season. Combining all this with regular first team training Ellie has now earned the opportunity to play a part in the club’s inaugural WSL season and UEFA Champions League campaign.
Vixens Manager Mark Sampson spoke to www.bristolacademywfc.co.uk on the clubs new signing; “Ellie is a young player we have had great hopes of for a long time so it is fantastic to see her now as a part of our first team squad. It speaks volumes for the excellent work that goes on at the Centre of Excellence and at Filton College and shows the club have great faith in our younger players. Ellie has been training with us for a while now so there won’t be any issues with her fitting in with the group it is just a matter of Ellie working hard and fighting for a place in the team.”
