Bristol Academy WFC and Filton College are to hold the BCS and The FA National Women's Football Conference.
British Colleges Sport and The Football Association are pleased to announce a 1-day national conference for those involved and interested in developing Women's Football within FE.
As part of the upcoming 'Lead Further week' the conference will be held at the excellent Filton College's Wise Campus near Bristol, on Thursday 2nd February 2012.
We are delighted to confirm that presenting and leading a coaching demonstration at the event will be Hope Powell OBE, Coach of the England women's national football team and the Great Britain women's football team competing in London Olympics 2012. Powell is an 'A' License coach and in 2003 became the first woman to achieve the UEFA Pro Licence - the highest coaching award available.
Also presenting at the event will be Rachel Pavlou - The FA's National Womens Football Development Manager and Karl Lines - BCS's National Football Development Manager. Rachel's main areas of work include growing the game of Women & Girls Football in England, managing the FA Girls Talent Development Programme and supporting the development of the Women's Super League. As strategic manager for football within FE colleges, Karl manages BCS and The FA's joint Football Development Strategy for further education, leading a team of 16 staff and overseeing significant investment into the development of football in FE as part of The FA's National Game Strategy.
The event is sure to bring together an array of sports staff and coaches working within the FE sector, together with FA and County FA Football Development staff. The event follows on from a similar event held on 19th March back in 2009 which helped galvanise the development of the women's game within the sector. We hope this event will also bring to the forefront the exciting developments that are happening within women's football and how colleges can be a part of that.
The conference is expected to attract its usual strong following of delegates from a wide variety of leading institutions. Attendance at the day is free for all BCS members, however delegates are asked to make a minimum donation of £15 towards the Lead Further charity as part of the fundraising week to support the development of leadership and volunteering.
