Bristol Academy Reserves secured their first 3 points of the season after a 2 - 1 win at home against newly promoted Brighton & Hove Albion Reserves.
5 minutes into the game the homeside broke the deadlock after Sam McGarry broke down the right hand side and cut into the penalty area and found Abby Reynolds in space who took the shot first time and found the bottom corner to make it 1 - 0.
Bristol continued to dominate the first half playing good football and creating many chances but unable to convert. Reynolds almost got her second goal but was denied by the bar after the third attempt as the Brighton goalkeeper made two good saves. Rhain Cleverly almost came close but was also denied by the crossbar.
Brighton almost got back into the game 5 minutes before half time when goalkeeper Abby Evans picked up a pass back from Kirsten Rendall. Ellie Isaac was the first to react and block the indirect free kick from 6 yards.
Brighton started the brighter team in the second half and pulled a goal back after 6 minutes. A free kick delivered into the box was headed by the Brighton striker leaving Evans with no chance of saving.
Robyn Pinder restored the lead for the Vixens after she beat 2 players of the Brighton defence to cut into the penalty area and place the ball in the bottom right hand corner.
The Vixens almost made it a third after McGarry's effort was also denied by the wood work.
Next weekend the Reserves take a break from the Reserve League as they take on Plymouth Argyle Reserves away from home in the Reserve League Cup.
