Vixens announce new signings
Bristol Academy Women’s Football Club is delighted to announce the signings of three new players, all could make their debut in the FA Women’s Cup 5th round tie against Leeds United Ladies on Sunday.
Striker Stef Curtis returns to the club after two seasons away at Chelsea and Birmingham City. An Irish International with over 40 caps returns to the club looking to add to her impressive goal scoring statistics at the highest level over the last five years.
Another striker Nikki Watts also returns to the club after a spell in the USA and Premier League Reading. After scoring 17 goals in 17 games this season for Reading the striker will be looking to continue her good form for the Vixen’s.
Natasha Harding joins the Vixen’s after a long spell at Premier League Cardiff City. Her ability to play either central or wide forward has allowed her to force her way into the senior Welsh squad and will be looking forward to stepping her first experience of the WSL this season.
Vixen’s Boss Mark Sampson was visibly pleased to have added three new quality forwards to his squad for the upcoming season;
“We wanted to add more fire power to the squad so to bring in three forwards with the quality Stef, Nikki and Tash possess is a massive boost to the group. They each bring something different to the group which gives us fantastic balance and completion for places in the final third. Stef comes here off the back of a frustrating year with injury but with her ability never in doubt now back to full fitness we are excited about her potential to excel with us. Nikki was one of the hottest properties outside the WSL with and incredible scoring record for Reading in the Premier League over the last two seasons. Add that to the fact that Nikki progresses through our own youth development programme at Filton College it really feels she is coming back here to fulfil her incredible talent. Tash will really bring another dimension to our forward play, a striker who can play off the shoulder and with great speed was something we were missing last season so it will give us far more variation to our play going forward. I am absolutely delighted with have managed to bring Stef, Nikki and Tash to the club and would like to put on record our thanks to their previous clubs for their support in the transfers.”
You can see the Vixens in action this Sunday at the Stoke Gifford Stadium vs Leeds United in the Women's FA Cup 5th Round, Kick Off 2pm. Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
